Informational Medical Video

THE BRIEF: Design and animate a colourful TVC for Qld Xray’s Women’s Diagnostic Centre

This video is part of a series of patient information videos produced by Bravo Productions for Qld Xray. The videos include: Mammograms, Nuchal Translucency, and a General Pregnancy Ultrasound video. My role was to take the offline footage edits, and add the opener, titles, animations and all text screens. For the opener and titles, I worked within the Qld Xray corporate colour palette (for the Women’s Diagnostic Centre) and created titles with a soft, feminine look to them, in keeping with the VO and music. For this kind of job, I’m generally given the offline project, a script with the VO, music and notes. From this point, the process involves creating a template for the titles, getting the design approved, and then moving on with the rest of the project. In any project where there is a considerable amount of onscreen text, it’s important to get final approval to avoid any unnecessary revisions. I created the original animation for the vaginal transducer, and the map animation. I decided to go with lower third titles throughout the video for a couple of reasons: a) so it’s easier to skip through and b) context – if anyone walks into a waiting room, they can immediately see what section of the video is being discussed. These are the kind of choices you can make in post-production when you understand the audience and context. All of the videos in this series can be found at qldxray.com.au
